Academic Search Premier is a multi-disciplinary database of more than 4,600 magazines and journals, including full text for nearly 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. In addition to the full-text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for 8,470 journals.

America’s News Magazines

Find full text articles on topics of current interest including business, education, the environment, history, science and technology. Access 45 sources, including Newsweek/Newsweek Global, Popular Science, Field and Stream, Mother Earth News, Science Illustrated, Smithsonian and more for homework help and current events.

Only accessible at the Library, this collection of more than 4000 databases and two billion names is essential to genealogy research.

Antioch Review

A local Antioch, Illinois newspaper published from 1998 through the first quarter of 2011, browse full text articles by date.

Microfilm copies can be found onsite at the Library. Please ask reference for assistance.

Archive.org

A nonprofit digital library where you can view the Antioch News from 1888-2006. Issues can be searched individually.

To search the whole set at once, use Google and type in your keywords as well as “Antioch News” and “archive.org.”

Local Obituary Database

Antioch Public Library District has put together a searchable database collection of Antioch resident obituaries from local newspapers and funeral homes from the late 1800’s through 2020. For help or access to more recent obituaries, please ask Library reference staff.

MasterFile Premier

Read articles from thousands of popular and professional magazines, including general reference, business, consumer health, popular culture, and science. Including definitions from the American Heritage Dictionary, biographies of famous people and primary source documents, it also provides an image library of maps, flags and photos.

WorldCat allows you to search and request the holdings of libraries across the United States and beyond. With over 500 million records in varied languages and institutions, you can locate books, journals, dissertations, recordings and more that may not be held locally at APLD but can be requested here using interlibrary loan services.
