Weekly Walk-in Activities

Every weekday 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. kids in kindergarten through grade 5 are invited to drop-in to the Children’s area for a fun activity. Activities include: Maker Mondays, Tricky Tuesdays, Wind Down Wednesdays, Lego Thursdays, and Find It Fridays.

Graphic Novel Book Club

We read a graphic novel geared toward grades 3-5 and meet once a month to discuss it. In March, we will be reading El Deafo by Cece Bell! Register online or call us at (847)-395-0874. Snacks are provided.


Available while at the Library. OSMO allows kids ages 5-11 to explore, learn, create, and interact with digital games in a whole new way. Antioch cardholder adults can check out OSMO to use with your kids while you visit the library. You will be provided an iPad and the stand and can choose from different fun games such as; coding, drawing, spelling, math, and tangrams. Ask for more details at the Children’s Desk.


Another new addition to the Children’s Department is KIBO. A screen-free robot kit for kids 4 to 7 years old to create, design, decorate and bring their own robot to life! KIBO is an easy and fun way to introduce robotics and coding to your child and spark their interest in STEAM. Antioch cardholder adults can checkout the KIBO to use at the Library with your child. Kids' Blog

The Kids’ Blog contains content for ages newborn to 5th grade. Look to see what the Children’s Department is discussing.

Museum Adventure Pass

The Antioch District Library participates in the Museum Adventure Pass program. APLD cardholders can receive free admission or a special discount to participating Chicago area destinations. Explore More Illinois

Explore More Illinois is a cultural pass program that allows Illinois public Library cardholders to get offers from museums, park districts, historical societies, performing and visual arts centers, and other attractions. Explore More Illinois is free and can be accessed 24/7 from any computer, tablet, or smartphone. APLD has Launchpads for you to check out. They are tablets for children (ages 3-10) that are loaded with fun and engaging apps. Themes include: STEAM, early literacy, math, science and more.


Developmental Games

Look to the Library for educational and entertaining games to play with your child. Choose from several developmental games that you can check out for young learners (18 months through 10 years). Themes include alphabet, general knowledge, literacy, math, motor skills, phonics, social skills and STEM kits.
